What to Expect

What to expect from us

During your initial pet care consultation/meet and greet you will be asked all about you and your pets specific needs. We can go for a walk with you and your dog to learn the preferred route, find out where you keep your pet supplies, etc. You will also be asked to fill out a couple of forms (which can be emailed to you ahead of time) asking basic information about your pet, emergency contacts and other important information for us to have on file.

At this time you can provide a key for us to keep on file which is the preferred method for ongoing services. Or this can wait until your services begin after the consultation.  Your key will be kept in a lock box with only your first name and last initial attached to it. Your personal information being kept confidential is extremely important to us.

While you are gone it is up to you how you want to communicate with us. We are more than happy to send a text, email, call, send pictures- whatever you are comfortable with.

Another huge benefit of using a pet sitting that comes to your home is that we are able to keep an eye on your home when you are away. We are more then happy to take in the mail, water plants, ect. Consider us house sitters too!

One big question that is often asked is ‘What about weather?’. Once we commit to caring for your pet we will be there barring a state of emergency. However, during heavy rain, winds, thunder storms, extreme heat and snow our walks will be shorted for the comfort and safety of your pet (and us). *While vacation pet sitting, we understand that we HAVE TO BE THERE even if there is a blizzard, and we will get there as soon as possible. However, during regular daily dog walks we may call the night before to discuss a plan if a severe amount of snow is expected.

*Most visits are done by me. The site uses a lot of ‘We’ and ‘Our’ as there have been occasions that I have needed coverage. Like You’re There Pet Care does have a few trusted per diem employees for these instances. However, you will always be notified as to who will be doing the visits and be able to meet them beforehand. All employees are background checked, covered under our insurance and extremely well trained and experienced with pets.

What we expect from you

Please keep supplies such as leashes and harnesses, treats, brushes, towels, and food in a consistent location that's easy for us to find. This will allow more time for the important things we are there for!

Our safety is vital in ensuring a great visit with your pet. If you know it may be dark when we are scheduled to arrive, leave a few lights on, including your porch or outside light. Be sure the entrance to your home is free of clutter or items your sitter might trip on. Notify your sitter of anyone that may potentially be in your home at any time during the days your sitter is scheduled, such as a family member or a house cleaning crew.

If there's anything you'd like to reinforce or go over before a scheduled visit, shoot us an email or give us a call! The relationship you have with your pet sitter/dog walker is special. Making sure they have all the information they need to make the most of the time they have with your pet will make a difference. Your pet will thank you for it!
